Evaluation on Titling (Include for Question 6)

Instead of looking back on the final picture picture edit for Abandoned Camp, i decided to look back on the process of our titling because it wasn't the simple text used within IMovie. During our production of Abandoned Camp, we had already discussed where we would want our titling to go. After watching some examples of opening sequences for films, we had come up with the idea of having titling appearing on trees as the opening progressed.
However, as we began our editing process, we realised that the titles were supposed to be on the screen for a certain period of time, in order to show recognition for not only our cast members, but the production team behind Abandoned Camp therefore only a certain amount of titles appear on trees, the others are placed within bushes.
We decided to use Keynote in order to get different types of titles; but because of our earlier decision of wanting the titles to be placed on top of the footage, we had a problem, because this seemed impossible  After some thought, we figured on using the green screen for the titles to easily show on top of our chosen footage.

We had to specifically choose certain places on keynote where we wanted it to be during the opening. We uploaded over 50 different titles, because most of the times, the titling would clash ad wouldn't show up. The colours we chose were red and black. Red is to connote blood, a main convention of a horror/vampire genre film. Black because it is very prominent and easy to read.

Rough Cut Evaluation- Abandoned Camp

(need to upload the rough cut, we didn't as youtube was being very slow.)

When we uploaded the footage, and re watched over it, we realised we still have a lot of filming left to do. We put the rough cut together starting off with a black scream, of which we hear a bus pulling over, in order to show how the campers get to their destination. We need to re-film this sound in order to be able to use it in our final production.
We then put up the birds eye view, which we were please with as we thought the camera would not be steady enough or that we would not be able to get a good shot. The camera was panning as the campers went past the tree.
The next few shots were off the campers crossing over the stream, which when watching we realised that there were members of the public walking there dogs which could be seen. Therefore when we go to film again, we will redo theses scenes.
There was  a point of view shot from the unknown character of which we see a close up of a pale hand. When speaking to Sir, he mentioned we should have something to show that there is someone watching over them before the hand comes in.
We then see one of the campus leaving the friends and discovering a "groaning" noise over from behind the bushes. From this we realised that the speed the camper is walking before she heard the noise and after is the same, when really she should be panicking and be scared over what the noise could be. This was another worry for us.
The ending of the rough cut was a disappointment as the make up on the vampire was not on show, and the way he was lying was not realistic at all. Even if some of the convention of a horror movie where seen throughout this rough cut.

From this it helped us see what we need to re-film and also gave us more ideas on how to develop our storyline.
